Alisa & Tim
Mexico Resort Life
Just to give you an idea of what to expect - here is a day in our life when we go to a resort like this:

-
Breakfast
-
RELAX at beach and/or pool, activities
-
Lunch
-
RELAX at beach and/or pool, activities
-
Shower & dress nice for dinner (still casual, but as I tell Tim - a shirt with no words on it)
-
Dinner
-
9pm - Evening entertainment (different themed show every night)
-
Bed
Rinse and repeat!

Activities
-
There are lots of activities right in the resort - water park/water slides, biking, walking paths, spa treatments, eco adventures, pool Olympics and other planned events, and lots of animals to watch.
-
If you want more than just what is on the resort - there are lots of excursions you can add on to your stay that you can book right in the resort lobby including Tulum and Chichen Itza, snorkeling and scuba diving, dolphin encounters, shopping, you name it!
-
Shopping - there is a small store onsite for some souvenirs and things you may have forgotten or need (t-shirts, vanilla, sunblock, etc). There will also be a night or 2 where local vendors will bring their wares onsite.

What to pack
Now that you know a little about what to expect, many ask - what do I need to pack!? Now, I have never been to a Mexican beach where it wasn't hot and humid - so be prepared and check weather reports before leaving! Average temperature in March is between 70 at night to 90 during the day, with 80% humidity.
-
PASSPORT - Number 1 item to bring! Everything else can be figured out!
-
Cash - there are ATM's here that I believe you can get pesos and dollars at. As of my last trip, everyone there takes US dollars - so you do not need to convert money. Bring small bills, no larger than $20. I usually use a lot of $1's and $5's for any tips I leave. I don't typically need more than that.
-
Clothes - swimsuit(s), swimsuit coverup, something casual nice for dinners (shirts with no words on it), an outfit for the wedding, water shoes, light shawl or jacket for evenings...
-
Swimsuits are not allowed at the restaurants for dinner. Breakfast and lunch they are allowed - typically just have a cover up/shirt on and be mostly dry is the rule of thumb for us
-
Suggested wedding attire - Is "semi-formal beach" a thing? Dressy casual to tropical semi-formal summer wear...
-
Dress nice, but comfortable for the weather and location
-
The wedding will be on the beach so shoes are optional, but reception will be on a terrace
-
Nice dress or sundress for the ladies, lightweight pants and polo/button-down shirt for the guys or something similar
-
Colorful always suggested; wedding colors are purple, burgundy, light yellow, light pink, green - think wildflowers
-
-
NOTE: There is NOT going to be a white party as far as I know now
-
-
Other items - sunblock, bug spray (I haven't been there in March, but it is in a rainforest), hat, sunglasses, insulated mug to keep drinks cold (I love this! I have mine in the pool with me at all times!), book to read while you relax, pool float, flip flops, sandals, towel clips are handy to clip your towel to your beach chair, beach bag, underwater camera if you have one, phone charger/power bank, snorkel (although you can rent there) ....
-
Don't need to bring
-
beach/pool towels - they are provided
-
anything expensive - just leave it at home
-
gifts - you coming is all the gift we need!
